Healthy Pregnancy

Mother and baby

In my practice, I support patients throughout their pregnancy both if they are experiencing any issues and even if things are going smoothly.

Here’s what a patient had to say, “Thank you for supporting me throughout my pregnancy. I am confident that your treatments helped me execute my ideal birth plan.” J.G.

Some common reasons for patients to come in for treatments during pregnancy include:

  • Overall health and wellness
  • Stress reduction
  • Mood support- for depression, anxiety, and mood swings
  • Morning sickness: nausea/vomiting
  • Headache and migraine
  • Fatigue and low energy
  • Musculoskeletal pain- such as back pain, pelvic pain, neck pain, carpal tunnel, sciatica, etc.
  • Insomnia and sleep issues
  • Digestive issues such as heartburn, reflux, and constipation
  • Common cold or flu

Moxibustion for Breech Presentation

If your baby is in breech position, my office offers moxibustion. We will also teach you how to practice moxibustion at home to continue the treatment until the baby is in optimal position. Moxibustion can be used in conjunction with medical treatments and chiropractic treatments. You can read more about moxibustion here: Moxibustion.

Pre-Birth Labor Preparation

I encourage pregnant patients to get weekly acupuncture treatments starting at 37 weeks in order to prepare the body for a healthy labor. Read more here:  Acupuncture for Labor Preparation.

Acupuncture after Due Date

If you are past your due date and would like to go into labor naturally, consider scheduling an acupuncture treatment. Acupuncture balances your body and facilitates energy flow to help prepare your body for labor.

Here’s a testimonial from a patient who was at 41 weeks pregnant: “Hi Daniela. I just wanted to let you know that my little 8lb boy arrived safe and sound… I went into very early labor about 2am on Wednesday morning (the night after my second appointment with you) and had a great, completely natural labor and delivery at UCSF. We’re now home settling in. Who knows what combinations of factors led to this, but it seems entirely possible that my appointments with you helped out. I’m so glad I didn’t have to have an induction, and I wanted to thank you so much for fitting me in and for your awesome support and positive attitude during the final days of my pregnancy.” L.M.
